Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has just three strikers available to him after the club sold Moussa Dembele to French side Lyon for £19.7m on deadline day, and the majority of Celtic fans that answered our poll want the Northern Irishman to start Odsonne Edouard against St Mirren.
Edouard, rated at £2.25m by Transfermarkt, spent last season on loan with Celtic from French champions Paris Saint-Germain before the Bhoys made his move permanent this summer in a club record £9m deal. The 20-year-old has since scored four goals in eight games in all competitions so far this season and is proving he could be the prolific striker that Rodgers needs to replace Dembele.
The Hoops manager’s other options include Leigh Griffiths, who has played in all four of the reigning Scottish champions’ league games so far, but has only started two of them and is yet to score a goal in the competition. He could also call upon the services of youngster Micheal Johnston, who has made two appearances so far during this campaign.
While the result was not decisive, 51 per cent of Celtic fans wanted Edouard to start, compared to Griffiths who received 44 per cent of the vote. Check out the full results of the poll below.
