Michail Antonio could miss three months of football after sustaining a suspected serious hamstring injury in the League Cup clash with Newport County, per ClaretandHugh.
What’s the word?
The report states that the 29-year-old may have “snapped” his hamstring during the game, which the Hammers won 2-0.
He was substituted instantly and replaced by Felipe Anderson and, as yet, the Irons have been unable to scan the issue, such is the extent of the problem, per the report.
Antonio could now face a potential three-month lay-off, with an operation likely if the club’s worst fears are confirmed.

Pellegrini’s problem
Now, of course, one cannot blame Manuel Pellegrini for Antonio picking up a muscular injury.
But one has to wonder why on Earth he was picked to play against the League Two side.
Yes, they have taken scalps in recent seasons, beating Leicester City and drawing with Tottenham Hotspur.
But Antonio had played a part in all three of the Irons’ games thus far this season and throwing him into the fray in a game the club should have been winning without him was reckless.
It has come back to bite, too, and he now faces a mammoth injury lay-off just as the season is getting started.
